A course covering the key skills and concepts required to evaluate coffee, you’ll improve your sensory skills while exploring various characteristics of brewed coffee. A perfect pairing for a Barista Skills or Brewing course, or for anyone keen to further develop their palate.

All SCA courses include the certification process. Please note that a mandatory Course Enrollment Fee of €50 is payable directly to the SCA, in addition to the course fee stated on our website. You can find more information here, and will need to register as a Learner with the SCA before the date of your course.

Course Content
Whether you're a home enthusiast or a trained barista, this course will introduce you to the technique and theory needed to fully assess the characteristics of coffee and other beverages.

We'll explore the way our human senses influence perception and how to apply this knowledge to coffee’s natural characteristics, and you’ll gain the ability to differentiate between certain sensorial characteristics including acidity, bitterness, body and more. We’ll also look at how to implement sensory quality controls in a business setting.
