This course is designed to introduce the novice to the key skills and equipment required to produce great brewed coffee. Whether you are a home brewer or want to introduce brewed coffee to your cafe menu, the SCA Brewing Foundation course will introduce you to the technique and theory needed to get the best out of a range of brew methods.
During the course we will:
- look at the differences between different brewers and filtration methods.
- introduce you to brew recipes and techniques
- work with a range of brewers, like the V60 and Clever Dripper
- introduce you to the technique used by all serious coffee professionals to manage their brews.
SCA Certification & Learner Number
This course is globally accredited via the Speciality Coffee Association (SCA) – if you take the optional SCA Certified Exam (£55), you earn 5 points towards your SCA Coffee Skills Diploma. Please note that an SCA Learner Number is required to take the exam, you can register for this via http://scae.com/registration - please bring this number with you on the day.
This is a full-day course, running from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, including a break with complimentary lunch provided. Please allow an additional hour if you choose to take the SCA Certified Exam.
There will be a maximum of 4 students for this course.
